1st Ever HBCU Showcase at Fenway Park: Florida A&M VS North Carolina Central
The Boston Red Sox, with the help of Mayor Marty Walsh, will hold a free open house at Fenway Park on Saturday, April 25, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
The event also will feature the park’s first-ever historically black college baseball showcase with a game between Florida A&M University and North Carolina Central University at 2 p.m. Fans will be able to tour Fenway at their own pace and from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. can walk on the warning track, sit in the dugouts and look inside the bullpens and the Green Monster scoreboard.
“Our open house in 2012 was popular with families during school vacation week, and we wanted to bring back this free event in which moms, dads and kids can explore the ballpark at their leisure,” Red Sox president and CEO Larry Lucchino said. “A historically Black College baseball showcase is a first for Fenway Park, and we are most pleased to welcome the baseball teams of Florida A&M and North Carolina Central:. “Mayor Martin J. Walsh was instrumental in allowing both the open house and the college game, and we thank him for helping us create an event that attracts fans from all over Boston and beyond.”
A college fair of historically black colleges also will be set up in the State Street Pavilion Club before the game, and all concession stands will be open.
