3 Tips to Ensure You Have The Best College Experience
Now I’m not saying say yes to everyONE, but if your school is celebrating “Mexican Heritage Month” go to some of the activities. If your University is having a play, poetry night, Maya Angelou as a guest speaker, BET Black College tour, etc. Enjoy it all! 1. It is free. 2. You’re not in middle school anymore these are not functions put on by your teachers or parents. Most Colleges and Universities have groups of students who plan campus activities with a facility advisor and they try to plan activities that are fun for them to work and students to enjoy.
2. Apply Early and Be Persistent
Apply for all loans, grants, classes, and scholarships early. Be prepared to endure long lines and long waits. The number of students applying is 10 X the number of faculty it takes to process all of the students’ paperwork. I suggest going the semester before and plan to be at financial aid or your counselor’s office all day. I know our postal system has been around for years and all Universities have steps in place for handling mail. However, I prefer face to face transactions. I like to see the person I am handing my paperwork to. I cannot stress this enough… Apply and plan months in advance.
3. This is The BEST Time of Your Life So Live it up
No Real Bills + No Real Responsibility = Freedom. This is the only other time in your life when this equation will exist. After college you get a job or create a job, and as soon as you get a job you get bills. They come hand in hand no one can escape it. You can however, choose to enjoy every experience to the fullest. Life is made up of a series of experiences fill yours with adventure, laughter, color, and spice.
