5 Black Instagram Influencers/Pages You Should Be Following (Volume 1)
Recently someone wrote into me via tumblr, asking how to create a positive dashboard on their social media accounts. They stated that with all the bad and negativity in the world, it can be hard to create a social media space where you get a break from all of that. Especially when it comes to melanated people, it feels like every other day there’s a new story about police brutality or a racially motivated crime happening against people of darker skin tones. I fully understood where they were coming from. Many of us use social media to escape the craziness of our day-to-day lives, however, with people of color, social media can be less of an escape and more of a reminder of the craziness we’re truly up against. As important as it is to stay informed on all that’s happening around you, it’s also important to take care of your mental health and take breaks from time to time. This is where having a positive social media dashboard comes into play, from Instagram to Twitter (even Snapchat and Facebook) it’s a major key to creating a safe space for yourself while browsing through your social media handles. The following are 5 black Instagram influencers that you should be following. Their pictures, IG stories, and personalities will not only brighten your Instagram feed but also your day!
