CampusLATELY Top 6 Must Read For The Semester
It’s always refreshing to read a new book, but a majority of the time we get lost in the bookstore just browsing not knowing what book to pick up and reading the preface is not always helpful. I’m an avid reader and I’m always seeing which one of my favorite celebrities or socialites has a new book deal. Knowledge is power and I think it’s good to feed your brain and soul with positivity and awareness.
I used to be really big on romance novels, but now it’s more about motivation. What book can offer me this and what book can offer me that? As we’re all out here chasing our dreams as millennials I think it’s important to read self-help books. No matter what field you’re trying to break into it’s not in us to settle for less or be okay with an entry-level position. We trying to be the top dawg and that’s okay. I encourage you all to shoot for the stars.
My top five reads right now are…
Black Privilege: Opportunity Comes To Those Who Create It by Charlamagne Tha God.
I Don’t Belong To You: Quiet The Noise and Find Your Voice by Keke Palmer
Milk and Honey by Rupi Kaur
The Hollywood Commandments: A Spiritual Guide To Secular Success by DeVon Franklin
The Misadventures of Awkward Black Girl by Issa Rae
I’m Judging You
Some of these books are for my ladies, some are for my guys and some are for both, but they are all good reads. I encourage you all to end your night with reading instead of television.

My name is Miranda Brown. I am a proud Alumna of Tennessee State University class of 2016. I am from Franklin, TN a small town right outside of Nashville. I am very much so an introvert, but I do tend to sometimes come out of my shell as I'm known as the extra-dramatic friend. I love writing and blogging even more. My favorite quote is, "reality is wrong. dreams are real" - Tupac. I'm all about being positive and spreading good vibes.
