Dove Apologizes For Racist Ad
A Dove Ad for bodywash struck a lot of people the wrong way. The ad shows an African-American woman removing her shirt and a Caucasian woman revealed underneath. Many viewed the three second GIF as a dirty black person transforming into a clean white person. What other way were we really supposed to take it Dove?
Dove released an apology via Facebook stating the ad “did not represent the diversity of real beauty which is something Dove is passionate about and is core to our beliefs, and it should not have happened … we apologize deeply and sincerely for the offense that it has caused”
The post has been officially removed but so many screenshots and saves of the GIF has caused it to still circulate through social media. You can imagine the commentary that goes along with its circulation.
One racist ad makes you suspect.
Two racist ads makes you kinda guilty. pic.twitter.com/hAwNCN84h2
