First All African-American Women Law Review Managing Board at Thomas Jefferson School of Law

Thomas Jefferson School of Law has never before had an all black female group managing their Thomas Law Review Board. That is until now Briana Givens, Liku Madoshi and Monique Larmond are the first all African-America Women Managing Board of the most prestigious institution related to legal education.  Pictured below is the 2013-2014 Review board a little less diverse……photo-131

This is a pretty big deal in the world of lawyers to be a part of this organization let alone be in charge of it. Not to mention it will most definitely aid in the process of connecting with colleagues and effectively networking.

Not only is this a first in the law school’s history, but the first in California and possibly the first in the nation excluding the wonderful world of  historically black college and university (HBCU) law school’s which have had all black review boards before.

Liku T. Madoshi is the Editor-in-Chief of the Thomas Jefferson Law Review Journal and oversees the entire Law Review. Briana Givens is the Executive Editor and is responsible for the editorial aspects of the Law Review. Monique Larmond is the Managing Editor and manages the day-to-day operations of the Law Review.

The Managing Board is selected by the outgoing Editorial Board each spring and consists of the Editor-in-Chief, Executive Editor, and Managing Editor. Together they are responsible for the overall operation of the Law Review.

Editor-in-Chief: The “EIC” oversees the entire Law Review.  She sets the tone and direction of the Law Review and acts as a liaison with the administration, faculty, and academic world that’s Mrs. Madoshi.

Executive Editor: The “EE” is responsible for the editorial aspects of the Law Review, including overseeing the Chief Articles and Chief Notes Editors. She helps set the schedule for each issue, supervises the editing and cite-checking processes, and ensures the Law Review is published without one Bluebook error which falls on Mrs. Givens.

Managing Editor: The “ME” Mrs. Larmond manages the day-to-day operations of the Law Review: keeping the books, paying the bills, tracking members, marketing, solicitation of advertising, managing subscriptions, collecting funds, and planning events.

Congrats ladies on making history but most importantly setting a new standard for Thomas Jefferson School of Law and millions of little “girls” who have the same dream you have. To be the best doing their best. #BlackGirlMagic at it’s best.
