FIU Alphas Help Clean Up South Beach Miami After Spring Break
During this time in March, spring breakers flock to Miami Beach to party, drink, eat and usually the beach is left in a disarray as thousands of college students head back to their cities to finish off the semester.
Members of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity at Florida International University saw the leftover trash on the beach and pitched in to join the maintenance crew’s clean up efforts.
Activists and locals were disgusted with the aftermath of Spring Break and what they claim beach-goers treating the area like a dumping ground each year. But its spring break, that should be expected right?
Well, locals noticed the efforts of the fraternity members and joined in to also help clean reports Huff Post.
“It doesn’t take much to pick up after yourself after partying,” Jourman Triana, a member of the fraternity, told the Miami Herald. “You can have fun and also do the right thing.”
Jourman stated they wanted to break the stereotypes and the Miami Beach took notice and recognized them on twitter.
