Grambling Grad Jessica Wright Ventures Into Business Ownership With Fancy Frugal LLC

CampusLATELY Entrepreneur series features another HBCU alum. A long-time goal was accomplished this year for one with a creative mind and huge dreams, as GSU graduate and employee, Jessica Wright, became a business owner of her very own trending online accessories shop, Fancy Frugal LCC.

Fancy Frugal LLC  is a  growing shop that aims to offer first-rate quality products at an affordable cost while allowing gals to stay up-to-date on several trends. Through exceptional customer service, Wright and Fancy Frugal hope to become your go-to place for all your Fancy Gal needs.

The two-time GSU graduate shared her new business venture with the world on April 30,  “I made a life changing decision that led to many other bad decisions, but this year I decided to give it a new meaning.” Wright said. “I decided to start my own business and make it a day of celebration rather than the domino before the fall.”

As soon as she made the huge announcement on social media, many of her supporters were just as excited as she was! One of her friends and classmates from GSU,  Katrina Harris, commented, ” I want to be your first customer”, and she was!

Harris, who is no stranger to taking on the triple duty of pursuing higher education, being a working professional and a business owner, as she also owns her own business “One Wardrobe”, a thrift store in Ruston, La. Harris wanted to make sure she showed great support.

With Fancy Frugal LLC, differentiating from any other accessories shop around, Wright is ensuring that you can’t go wrong! I mean, what woman doesn’t love jewelry, especially when there are so many options to choose from! Fancy Frugal offers nameplate accessories in sterling silver, 24K gold, rose gold, 14K gold and white gold.

The “fancy” jewelry prices range from $46 to $120, with a May 20% discount going on RIGHT NOW,  but the great thing is all jewelry can be customized to just the way you want to “rock” it!  Some of the many scripts for the popular nameplates are classic, handwriting, cursive, block, bold and elephant!

Many new businesses have specific seasons where they do well and see large spikes in sells,  but Wright scored BIG with jewelry because it never goes out of style! Jewelry makes great gifts for Christmas, weddings, Mother’s Day, birthdays, an  anniversary, graduation, etc. Is it graduation season? Did I mention Fancy Frugal accessories make great graduation gifts…. with new arrivals available now.

As a first time business owner, along with working a full-time job,  Wright made no excuses and was still eager and able to open her first business right from the Internet. This process was able to make opening the business a lot easier and less time consuming, but marketing the new business is where it takes a ton of skill from Wright. This is where she will be able to use some of her college background and expertise in the mass communication field to get the word out about Fancy Frugal. Wright designed and got her website up and running along with a catalog with all of the jewelry that is offered by Fancy Frugal and she is now set to not only provide her friends, family, supporters and jewelry lovers with amazing accessories, but with your help she is set to make a positive difference in the wholesale jewelry industry!

The Gramblinite is not only a proud graduate, but has served in many positions at the university including the social media coordinator and writer. She moved to Grambling from Mesquite, Texas, to study mass communication in 2007. She worked as a student in the unit and became communications coordinator. She spent several months as a program analyst/office manager in the Title III office. Wright did a research development and marketing internship with the Boys & Girls Club of North Central Louisiana in 2011 then started work at the club part-time. A 2012 GSU graduate with a bachelor’s degree in mass communication with a broadcasting and public relations focus, Wright went on to earn a master’s in mass communication in 2014 at Grambling State. She spent a summer as a Dow Jones News Fund business journalism intern with the National Endowment for Financial Education (NEFE) working with media relations, marketing, and communications in Denver and worked as a communications intern at the North Louisiana Economic Partnership (NLEP) in Monroe. On her free time, Wright enjoys modeling, spending time with friends and family and being a dog mom!
