– RAVEN MOODY –
About the Author:
Raven Moody, raised in Indiana, obtained a degree in Journalism with a minor in African Studies from Indiana University. With her journalism degree, Moody looks to pursue a career in broadcasting. The 24-year-old is off to a great start as she landed a broadcast journalism internship with WTHR Channel 13 in 2015. The new author chose to combine her love for writing and drawing people to Christ as the motivation to become an author and inspirational speaker. The scripture Romans 8:28 is not only her life motto but the driving force when helping others see that everything in life will work out in your best interest if you allow God to be in control. Moody says she wrote this book to share her journey and different lessons learned throughout her life in hopes of inspiring young people. “My biggest thing is helping others learn from my journey, my experiences, and I want to see everyone succeed in life no matter what their environmental factors were growing up,” she said.
Q&A with Raven Moody:
Q. When you were a kid what did you want to be when you grew up?
A. I wanted to be a lawyer, the president, or a famous broadcaster. I went on to pursue TV
Q. What is your favorite book?
A. Emako Blue by Brenda Woods
Q. What did you learn from your biggest failure?
A. I received a 0.4 GPA my first semester in college. I went on to get a 3.575 the next semester… I learned that life is what you make it. Only you can stop you.
Q. How do you find inspiration? What was the inspiration behind you writing this book?
A. Inspiration comes from Church and the Bible (Romans 8:28 is my motto)
I wrote the book for young girls to know they aren’t alone in what they go through. We must know that there are growth and maturity opportunities in each circumstance, good or bad, but your perception is what will determine the outcome and if you overcome or stay stuck in it.
Life itself entail both elation and dismays. What dictates your outcome is how you approach each endeavor and what you take from each experience. In this memoir, Raven discusses some of the intimate details of the life lessons she has learned. While analyzing her life decisions, in retrospect, she is able to identify both the positives and negatives that helped to mold her into who she is today. Since she cannot go back in time to help her younger self, she has decided to pay it forward by sharing her testimony on overcoming each situation she has encountered. Raven’s hope is that in sharing each experience, even if a feasible solution is not available, it will help readers trust in God’s word to get them through their own life experiences.
