Philando Castile’s Girlfriend Awarded Settlement– BUT His Murderer Acquitted
“While no amount of money can change what happened, bring Philando back, or erase the pain that my daughter and I continue to suffer, I do hope that closing this chapter will allow us to get our lives back and move forward.”
We have heard the stories over and over again. Their names roll off our tongues in remembrance, Trayvon Martin, Mike Brown, and Philando Castile were are victims of police brutality that ended their lives too soon.
You recall Philando Castile’s video going viral. His girlfriend, Diamond Reynolds, streamed the entire incident via Facebook live.
Reynolds will receive a total of $800,000 from the city of St.Anthony, Minnesota.
One can only think that if the situation wasn’t wrong, as so many claim, there would be no settlement necessary.
In other news, the police officer will remain free. During the summer, a jury found him not guilty of dangerous discharge of a weapon and manslaughter, despite him firing his gun seven times at Castile who was reaching for his identification as ordered.
