Prairie View A&M President George Wright Says He’s Stepping Down

Saying the time has come to “focus on other things,” Prairie View A&M President George Wright announced Tuesday that he is stepping down. George Wright has been at PV for 14 years now and will leave as soon as an interim president is chosen.

Wright is a professor of African-American studies and plans to teach at Prairie View’s once his interim successor is found.

“What I plan to do is focus more on my research, which requires more travel and attention than I can give it in my current role,” he said.No one can not deny that over these past 14 years Prairie View as grown by leaps and bounds. The football stadium was built, the student center is amazing and PV is not at risk of closing like several other HBCU’s are currently
