Holiday breaks can get you off track of your fitness goals if you don’t stay prepared or get distracted with eating and lounging the entire month.

Below are 4 tips to help you squeeze in those holiday workouts and keep it fun and easy at the same time.

  1. Workout DVDs – Its hard to run to the gym, especially if you are used to using your university gym or jogging around campus. Workout dvds make for a great, 45min, high energy exercise regime  that’s easy to do at your home. I personally enjoy Gymnetics Fitness’ Black Girls Workout Too DVD.  Also, makes for a great Christmas Gift.
  2. Don’t Dessert Your Meal Plan – That’s right. We all tend to use the holidays as an excuse to not eat healthy. But, when you aren’t indulging in dressing, mac and cheese, ham and dinner rolls, make sure you are eating right and taking care of your body. Nothing worse than returning back f0r the spring semester with extra Christmas weight!
  3. Get a free trial gym pass – Most gyms will let you get a 2 week gym pass to try it out. Since you will only be home for a few weeks, stop by your local gym and see what options they have for anticipated new members.
  4. Change your music – Throw on some Christmas tunes to get you in the holiday spirit while working out. My fave album this time of the year is Destiny Child’s 8 Days of Christmas. It’s fun and upbeat. Perfect for staying in zone and in the spirit.
