Want To Attend Barack Obama’s First Leadership Summit?

Eight months out of the office and former president Barack Obama is back in the spotlight encouraging the youth to change the world with the Obama Foundation. Obama made the announcement on twitter:

“Michelle and I want the @ObamaFoundation to inspire and empower people to change the world. Here’s how we’re getting started this fall. Michelle and I want the @ObamaFoundation to inspire and empower people to change the world. Here’s how we’re getting started this fall.”

This two day event in Obama’s hometown, Chicago, will host civic leaders from around the world on October 31st and November 1st. The Obama Foundation Summit will consist of “hundreds of leaders from around the world will come together to exchange ideas, explore creative solutions to common problems, and experience civic art, technology, and music from around the world.”

This event is open to the public, but you have to apply through the Obama.org by answering a few questions. This “hands-on training, resources and leadership development” with take place over two years with 20 young leaders to start in the first fellowship program. Here are sample questions on the application for candidates:

  • “Why do you want to attend the Summit? (300 characters)
  • How are you involved in your own community and what inspired you to do so? (1,000 characters)
  • What would you say to young people around the world who want to make a difference in their own community? (500 characters)”

Obama and former First Lady Michelle Obama would like you to remember what he asked us back in 2008, “I asked you to believe not in my ability to bring about change, but in yours.”
