Willow And Jaden Smith Join Protest Against Dakota Access Pipeline

Thousands of Indigenous protesters have set up camps along the pipeline route in North Dakota to protect their water, land, history and climate. Willow, Jaden Smith and their mother were out there with the protesters trying to fight the good fight in a growing movement against a fossil fuel project threatening the very livelihood of its native inhabitants.

True to our current climate a federal judge has recently rejected the Standing Rock Sioux Tribe’s request to halt construction, claiming the $3.8 billion project could taint water supplies and encroach on tribal burial sites.

Over the past few months, activists around the country have been taking up arms in solidarity with Indigenous communities and fighting for their lives on the front lines.  The Smith siblings, along with the likes of Rosario Dawson and Shailene Woodley have been on the front lines protesting.

shailene-woodley_1Actress Shailene Woodley from The Divergent franchise was recently arrested while protesting at the construction site October (16), along with 27 other people.

She was charged with one count of misdemeanor criminal trespass and one count of misdemeanor engaging in a riot, and her attorney entered a not guilty the plea on her behalf last week. If convicted, she faces two months in jail and $3,000 in fines.
