5 Curiosities About David Attenborough Celebrating His 95th Birthday Today

Sir David Attenborough, for his nomadic explorer, cosmopolitan travel style, and straightforward tone, almost instantly stole himself in the hearts of people and television viewers. The name of the British naturalist is practically intertwined with the name of the BBC, 15 years ago, even at the age of eighty, he looked back on more than fifty years of television work. Here are some interesting things from your life:

#1 In 1950, he applied to the BBC for a job as a producer. Although initially rejected, his autobiography later attracted the attention of then-head of the department, Mary Adams. That’s how he finally got to the BBC.

#2 In the 1960s and 1970s, he held the position of program director at the BBC, and the channel, for example, began broadcasting color films under his presidency.

# 3 In recognition of his work, about 20 living and extinct species bear his name, including alpine hawks, anteaters, and even the flowering Ecuadorean tree.

# 4 In 2013, he joined forces with well-known rock musicians, Brian May, known from the Queen, and well-known guitarists Slash from the band Guns N’ Roses, to participate in a song dedicated to badgers. At the same time, he expressed his opposition to the policy of the UK government to exterminate villains to some extent.
