It is not enough to visit the charming city of Pécs, which has a Mediterranean atmosphere in winter and summer. The fifth largest settlement in our country, where it comes to life every day of the year, has something to discover every time.
Havihegy panoramic terrace
If it is worth starting our Pécs vacation somewhere, it is Havihegy, which later makes up for all the steeper ascents and toils, and the wonderful gazebo created in recent years. Here, a gorgeous view of the Mediterranean city of Pécs unfolds before us, but we can also browse familiar and yet-to-be-discovered destinations. Here you can take a gentle stroll on a wooden path protected by a railing, the benches are suitable for resting, and if you’re already here, it’s worth visiting the Church of Our Lady of the Snows towering over the town and the almond tree chosen as the most beautiful of 2019.
Becks coffee
In the city center, in a hidden inner garden, we find one of the finest coffees in Pécs. On the cozy terrace of Pécsi Kávé, in the shade of a fig tree, surrounded by stairs, you can sip traditional black and brand new specialty drinks. They serve Matchagino and Espresso Negroni to beat the heat, but you can also sip on strong espresso and iced tea, and sample refreshing desserts. If you want to take a break while sightseeing, Pécsi Kávé welcomes you.

Zsolny district
If Pécs, then Zsolnay, if Zsolnay, then Pécs. These two names have become inseparable over time and it probably goes without saying that you cannot miss Zsolnay Quarter when visiting Pécs. Even walking between the buildings is tantamount to traveling through time, but the exhibitions and displays are captivating one by one. From the youngest to the oldest, everyone can find entertainment to their liking here: a playground, outdoor games, craft shops, a café, an interactive magic space, and permanent and temporary exhibitions await those interested. But it’s good to know that if you get tired, you can stay at Zsolnay Negyed Guesthouse after booking in advance.

If you want to enjoy the beauty of the area while sitting on the hammock:
Szechenyi Square
The main square of Pécs is worth a visit not only because of its Mediterranean atmosphere, colorful flowers and the Kászim Pasha Gázi Mosque, which is located in the center of the square, which is considered one of the symbols of the city. You can go in all directions as the wind rose from here in search of sights, as you can find interesting things and monuments on almost every street, which are worth spending a few minutes in front of. The magnificent Rose Garden, the Pécs Church, the National Museum of Pécs, the Vasarely Museum and many other places where you can enjoy culture are just a few minutes’ walk away.
Mandala Restaurant
Mandala Restaurant is the perfect choice if you want to travel not only the city of Pécs, but also the world of flavours. Health and quality are the leaders in the city’s progressive vegetarian and vegan restaurant, and this is clearly demonstrated by the exceptionally satisfied guests. The Mandala team tries to wow their regular crowd week after week and day after day with some brand new delicacies, the ingredients of which often come from local producers. Egervölgy Lake and Forest Park
A popular hiking spot for the people of Pécs, Égervölgy Park forest and its enchanting surroundings invite you to take a walk and relax in the summer heat. Trees, streams, trails, bridges, and tourist routes cross our path every step of the way in this area of Western Mecs. In the middle of walking and wandering in the park’s woods, it’s nice to rest next to the man-made Éger-völgyi-tó, which offers the opportunity for a quiet, undisturbed stroll.

Cornice of the northern castle wall
One of the special attractions of Beish, which is already impressive, is the city wall surrounding the city center. In recent years, its northern part, behind the cathedral, has been renovated, which has been very popular with Pecs residents and visitors ever since. A promenade has been created here, which invites you to take a pleasant walk in the castle wall garden. Benches are also available for those who come here to help them relax, which will serve you well if you visit the Granary Building and the Medieval University.

+1 Zsolnay Light Festival (July 6-9, 2023)
This year, between July 6 and 9, it will be worth going to Pécs, as the cult sites in the center of the Mediterranean city will be illuminated again. At the country’s first and only light festival, buildings are given mantles of light, streets are carpeted with light, and the cathedral’s façade is brought to life with animated 3D imagery displays. In addition to the special show, over 100 other programs await you during the four-day festival. It is especially interesting that in the evenings the program is complemented by the competition of the best light artists of the world, the Zsolnay Light Art International Light Painting Competition.
