The streaming provider has tried interactive content and video game adaptations before, and now it looks like they want to try themselves more seriously in the gaming world.
Netflix is the most popular movie and series streaming platform in most parts of the world, but a few years ago, the service provider began experimenting with how to turn watching negative movies and series into a more interactive activity. It seems likely now that the company wants to take more serious steps in this direction, as a division dedicated to video games could launch soon.
Netflix has previously tried interactive stories like Black Mirror: Bandersnatch, as well as smaller video game mods for many of its series, but the information (Warning, paid content) now they go further, as they were recently offered a position for filmmakers with more video game experience to pave the way for a similar section at Netflix.
Netflix has not yet made any official announcements in this regard, but the following announcement has been made in this regard:
“Our subscribers appreciate the variety and quality of the content that we offer. That is why we are constantly expanding our offerings through TV series, documentaries, films and reality shows. Our users also want to be able to communicate directly with the stories they love. Be it interactive films like Bandersnatch and You. v. Wild or game mods from shows like Stranger Things, La Casa de Papel or To All the Boys, in light of all this, we find it very exciting to have more interactive entertainment. “
For now, of course, one can only guess that this will now mean a certain game development studio, or that it will carry a Bandersnatch train of thought inside the Netflix platform, but of course we’re very curious to see what will eventually come out of it.
