“Those conducting the investigation should have full access to everything they might need to find the origin of the pandemic,” Ursula von der Leyen said at a press conference in Brussels ahead of the G7 summit.
Charles Michel, President of the European Council, said the world had a right to know exactly what happened so that we could learn from it. He added that the European Union supports all these efforts.
Recently, once again on the agenda it must be closely examined whether the virus could have been released from a laboratory in Wuhan. US President Joe Biden has asked intelligence executives to conduct further investigations to determine whether the coronavirus may have spread from one animal to another or whether an accidental infection in a laboratory caused the epidemic. According to China, by examining laboratory theory, the United States is “politically manipulating and trying to shift responsibility.”
At the annual meeting of WHO member states in Geneva, Jeremy Konyndyk, who represents Americans at the end of May, said a “comprehensive and expert study on the origins of Covid” was important.
In addition to the United States, Australia, Japan and Portugal also support the launch of a new investigation, saying that learning about the spread of the epidemic can help deal with potential epidemics in the future.
