Anti-Netanyahu coalition joins, new prime minister of Israel after 12 years in government

After 12 years in government and four failed by-elections, he could be the new prime minister of Israel. **The center-left party led by Jair Lapid could form a unity government with the support of the radical right. **

Although Benjamin Netanyahu’s 71-year-old Likud party won the most seats in the March elections but failed to form a government, Reuven Rivlin appointed head of state Lapid, the leader of the second-most-voted party, Khies Atid (Van Future), one of the Netanyahu’s biggest critic. with the task.

Lapid, 57, has reached a power-sharing solution, according to Israeli press reports, with Naftali Bennett serving two years as prime minister and handing him over.

Bennett, 49, the number one in the Jamina party, is a nationalist billionaire who supports swallowing up much of the West Bank.

“I declare that from now on I will work with all my might to establish a joint government with my friend Jair Lapid, and with God’s help, we will save the country from the current chaos and put it back on the right track,” Bennett Naftali said. In his televised address on Sunday evening.

He added, “It is not true that it is possible to form a right-wing government led by Likud Chairman Netanyahu, and only a left-centrist, right-wing unity government or for the fifth time can be considered. New elections must be held.”

“I will tell you what the truth is: Instead of forming a left-wing government, which could pose a danger to Israel, we can form a right-wing government right after Lapid’s term ends to form a government, a government that would be beneficial,” Benjamin Netanyahu replied.

Bennett, who heads Jamena, which has only seven seats in the 120-member constituency, could be prime minister in the first half of the rotating government if coalition talks succeed – the deadline is Wednesday midnight.

Incidentally, Netanyahu made a similar agreement with Defense Minister Benny Gantz to resolve the government crisis that has been going on since 2019 – after which, in the end, another election had to be held in March.

There is little in common politically in the anti-Netanyahu parties, but they agree that the current prime minister is a “power-sharing politician who is dividing society and it’s time to go.”

Netanyahu had earlier offered Lapid to form a government with him in a similar power-sharing system.
