The government removed the obligation of donor NGOs to report. There is simply no need to report anything under the regulation amendment issued on Friday night.

Thus, the rule, which was introduced from July 1, lasted only two weeks, with practically no time to implement it. The NGOs protested that deciding the name could have frightened donors if the state was responsible for whom they support. Foreign Minister Palaz Orban then announced in Prime Minister’s Office that only donors over HUF 500,000 should be named. But so far nothing has happened.
