The world’s first bird theater was built in Hortobágy

Budapest – The Bird Theatre, a visitor center that allows close observation of timid wild birds without disturbing them, is based on Bence Máté’s world-famous natural photography concept.

In the past 10 years, a lot of visitor centers have been built in Hungary to support active and eco-tourism – called Marius Reeves, the government commissioner in charge of active Hungary, at the Hortobagy Bird Theater investment press conference in Budapest on Friday.

As he added, it promises to be one of the biggest and unique attractions in the world to be a bird watching site based on the Hortobágy Aquarium, the concept of which was developed by Bence Máté, the world’s most award winning nature photographer.

According to Marius Reeves, Pence Mate – who has never accepted any pay for his work – is famous for his ambushes to watch the animals he built, and he wanted to build a Bird Theater that could hold a bus of visitors at the same time, but he doesn’t. disturb the animals.

The government commissioner added that after studying several sites, Hortobagy was selected for its site, adding that the authorized schemes for the building have already been completed and public procurement will be announced next week.

Pence Matei notes that the scheme for the Bird Theater was formulated in it more than ten years ago. In the course of his photographic projects, he began constructing ambushes covered with reflective detection glass, providing a very close view of even the shyest of animals; Think about this concept with the government committee team.

According to plans, the study route from the Hortobágy Small Railway will lead to the entrance to a 50-meter long, soundproof and obstacle-free tunnel, where the wildlife of the Hortobágy National Park can be viewed both above and below the water. .

Pence Mattei said.

Architect Róbert Kiss, design team leader, stated that an important aspect is that the building complex that uses renewable energy should blend in with the landscape as much as possible, so it will not be visible from the direction of the lake at all.

He said visitors will pass through the reed cover and will be able to look out over the lake and bird watching from a smaller observation point, where a tunnel will lead them further. He pointed out that a circle will be placed around the route of the visit so that the arrivals and departures do not disturb each other.

Zeta Kovacs, director of Hortopaje National Park, described the bird theater in Hortobagy as a serious possibility.

As you’ll remember, the nearly 1,300-hectare freshwater lake system is home to an extremely rich bird life, and a small five-kilometer railway takes visitors to the lake.

Mirkó Petényi, Director of Communications at the Center for Active Development and Eco-tourism, said that the construction of the Bird Theater from an amount of about HUF 1 billion is scheduled for two years.

Marius Reeves added that the visitor center, which accommodates about 30,000 people annually, will house egrets, terns, gray herons, and black storks, but depending on interest, the complex will be developed to include shorebirds and birds of prey. They think of similar places to monitor.
