In the men’s weightlifting final, defending champion and world record holder Ryan Crozer won a new Olympic peak at 23.30, the second was also Joe Kovacs of the United States, while New Zealander Thomas Walsh finished third. Interestingly, the same three heavyweight athletes have performed in the same order for five years on the podium in Rio.

Crozier made his biggest push in the sixth series, and 23.30 means he’s just seven inches behind his world record.

The men’s 110m hurdles was a success in Jamaica after Hansel Barchmann finished first in the final with a time of 13.04 seconds, ahead of American Grant Holloway and compatriot Ronald Levy. Hungarian sprinter Valdo Szczuks reached the semi-finals, ending up in 13th place.

Portugal’s Pedro Piccardo won the men’s triple jump ahead of China’s Zhou Jinjing and Fabrice Zango of Burkina Faso – the latter winning his country’s first Olympic medal.

Of the seven Testers, Krizsán Xénia finished the long jump in 20th place, and after five numbers she expects to continue from 20th.
