Index – Abroad – Taliban give ultimatum, allies must leave Afghanistan by the end of August

A Taliban spokesman warned on Monday that the United States and its allies face consequences if they delay their departure from Afghanistan scheduled for August 31.

Sohail Shaheen to Sky News to explain

If the US or UK ask for more time to continue with evacuations, we will respond no.

He added that if the Westerners did not leave by August 31, it would have “consequences” because it was a “red line” for them. The spokesman responded that US President Joe Biden earlier, under pressure from his allies, has the possibility of delaying the withdrawal of US forces beyond the August 31 deadline.

In addition to the Americans, the UK took the initiative to postpone the evacuation date. Prime Minister Boris Johnson plans to impress President Joe Biden at a virtual summit on Afghanistan on Tuesday, held by Britain, at the Group of Seven (G7) group of seven of the most developed nations.

Meanwhile, AFP, citing two sources, wrote that the Taliban would only publish a list of the government they envisioned after the western withdrawal. Although the radical Islamists wanted a unity government, they hastily indicated that there would be no democracy in Afghanistan, and the country would be governed under the auspices of Sharia.
