In August, foreign and domestic guests together spent 24.2 percent more guest nights than the previous month and 11.3 percent more than the previous year. In August, domestic guests spent 1.9% more guest nights in commercial accommodations than the previous year and 1.4% more than before the outbreak in August 2019. The number of guest nights spent by foreign guests increased 50.2% compared to August last year, and decreased By 55.7% compared to the same period in 2019. And compared to the previous month, the number of domestic nights was 329 thousand nights, or 14.4 percent, and the number of foreign nights was 364 thousand nights, or 63.7 percent.

Compared to August last year, the number of domestic guest nights increased by 0.7 percent and the number of foreign guests by 59.8 percent, while group accommodation growth reached 66.1 percent and 147.6 percent, respectively. In boarding houses and camping sites, the number of nights for domestic guests decreased by 3.6 and 5.3 percent, respectively, while the number of nights for foreign guests increased by 6.7 percent and 26.9 percent, respectively.

Compared to August 2019, the number of guest nights spent in hotels decreased by 27.7%, although domestic guests spent 3.4% more nights and foreigners by 59.5% less.

In Budapest, 122.3% foreigners and 47.9% residents spent more guest nights than in August last year, but compared to August 2019, only a third (33.5%) were foreigners, but residents spend 16.5% more. number of nights. In one year, the accommodation fee revenue increased by 27.0 percent and hospitality revenue increased by 12.3 in cent, down 17.5 percent and 7.7 percent, respectively, from August 2019.

In the first eight months of the year, revenue from accommodation providers fell 14.8 percent to CHF159.223 billion. Accommodation fee revenue decreased 10.5%, while hospitality revenue increased 12.3%.

The number of guest nights spent in commercial accommodation establishments was 17.5 percent lower than in January-August last year, while local residents used Hungarian accommodation establishments with 8.7 percent and foreigners 37.3 percent less than overnight stays.
