The internet has never been a safe place, and fraudsters applying for our data are trying to extract valuable email addresses and passwords from us in increasingly creative ways. With these, they can try to crack our personal files later and if that fails, they can still crack some illegal database and then sell them on the dark web for serious money.
It’s increasingly important to be informed while browsing the web, even if you’re just reviewing private messages you’ve received on Discord.
a Malware Researchers have become aware of the prevalence of a Discordon phishing scam, which attempts to trick gullible users’ steam logins with an audio display. Message text:
“Look, you can get Discord Nitro here for a month, all you have to do is sign in with your Steam profile,”
Discord Nitro is a subscription to the platform, which allows us to add additional capabilities to the servers we use and make our profile more interesting. While there are sometimes promotions that we can use to get free codes, unfortunately they do not come of this type.
The link in the message leads to a fake Steam login interface, which of course looks eerily similar to the real thing. Here, unsuspecting users manipulate their data nicely, and if their profile is not protected by two-factor authentication, it has already been passed on to malicious attackers.
Cyber security experts also pointed out that the link in these messages does indeed show the real “steamcommunity.com”, so we need to be extra careful about details and the like in real life, Do not accept sweets from strangers.
