The stakes are high in the UK

The first election since Brexit and the coronavirus pandemic will take place in Britain on Thursday; Parliament in Scotland and Wales and Local Authority in England.

The largest share of the Scottish Parliament vote is the result of the ruling Independent Scottish National Party (SNP). If he can form a government again with a large parliamentary majority, he is likely to give a serious boost to preparations for another independence referendum – eventually, even for the breakup of the United Kingdom.

There is a similar amount of interest in the London mayoral elections.

According to the latest opinion polls, the mayor of the ruling Workers’ Party, Sadiq Khan, is expected to win a landslide victory in the capital.

His pro-government rival, Conservative Sean Bailey, was unable to reach broad strata in his campaign for a year and a half. His manifestations were more disgusting to most Londoners.

Elections are considered eligible for both Prime Minister Boris Johnson and his government. Voters will certainly form their opinion on the effectiveness of the epidemic management and vaccination programme.

So the risks can override local interests, even the position of British Prime Minister.

A full overview of the results is not expected until Sunday.

Our local correspondent says that “For the first time since the 2019 Conservative election and Boris Johnson’s landslide general election, Britons can signal that they are doing well. They can express their experience with Brexit, how they see the management of epidemics. These are not local issues. Thus, The leadership of the two major parties, the Conservatives and the Labor Party, will determine the direction for the future.”
