Windows 11 File Manager can make you happy

With tab view may expand Windows 11 File Manager, which is still hidden in 22572 before build. The novelty was spotted by EarTrumpet app developer Rafael Rivera.

Enable tabs allow the user to open different folders in tabs side by side, similar to the solution seen in browsers, making it easy to switch between them, eliminating the need to open multiple instances of the file manager simultaneously, and ultimately taking advantage of memory management.

The innovation is welcomed by many: the feedback center, which acts as a feedback center integrated into the system, has already voted in favor of the tabbed proposal. Microsoft has made a similar attempt before, testing for years with Windows 10 displaying tabs as groups, which it tends to shear.

Amanda Langosky, head of the Windows Insider Program, said last month that the company will only communicate about new features once they’re made available to insiders and can start collecting feedback. The tabs are expected to come with a big 22H2 update package, aka Sun Valley 2, which will be released sometime in the summer and fall, and it’s been known to make more interface changes.
