From March 10-17, 2022, wine lovers will be able to participate in the Eger Star Week for the first time. The objective of the thematic week is to draw attention to the white wines prevalent in the Eiger wine region.
You can open a bottle of Eger Stars at home, participate in one of the nationally organized tasting sessions, or just order a dish with a star at one of the connected restaurants.
The timing of the event is perfect in many ways.
The star eagle is often called the spring wine of the wine region.
On the one hand, since new wines are traditionally served during this period, on the other hand, the freshness and lightness of classic wines, which are the most famous categories of Star of Eger, and their aroma evoking fruits and flowers is really good for spring.
One of the most popular restaurants in Eger, Macok Bistro is also built on that atmosphere. Peter Sternak The restaurant manager gladly joined the new initiative:
“Every year, local winemakers come out with Eger Stars for the first time during the burst of spring buds. Dishes served with fresh vegetables, salads and seasonal asparagus, for example fish, light cheese and chicken, are in perfect harmony with this type of wine.
Thus, we are preparing a special Eger Star week in Macok as well, and the menu of dishes will be identical to Eger Star wines in many wineries.
Catalin Tooth Representing Ferenc Tóth winery, he thinks of the Eger Star as: “There are a few wine regions where an excellent blend of white and red can be made. Eiger is like that. I think it is important to show the excellent white wine of the Eger through the Eger star.”
The first year in the life of a series of events is always especially exciting, because it is at this time that both program organizers and participants get acquainted with the concept of the event. However, a promising future is predicted by the fact that immediately after the announcement of the Eger Star Week, many people joined the project.
There will be a premiere of the new wine in many places, a few restaurants serve a glass of Egri Csillag, wine shops collect packages of Egri Csillag wines, and the wineries themselves offer endless tasting and shopping opportunities.
