GED Africa Ltd and the government of the Democratic Republic of the Congo have signed a major long-term agreement for infrastructure development, including the construction of a modern 345-meter cable-stayed bridge over the Luapula River and a state-of-the-art border between the Democratic Republic of Congo and Zambia. GED Africa Ltd. , a subsidiary of Duna Aszfalt Zrt. , by developing a regional development initiative for the GED Africa Route project. In addition to the local subsidiary Danube Asphalt, which is owned by László Szjjj, local companies will also be involved in the work: the agreement states that 30 percent of the contract work will be carried out by local companies. Capacity building and additional employment opportunities will be provided to the community through the use of the complex IT systems required to operate the border post.

The commercial link between Zambia International Port and Dar es Salaam forms part of the project. This will promote the development of the mining and agricultural sectors and make Kasenga the next major commercial center in the Democratic Republic of the Congo.

The GED Africa route will have a lasting positive impact on the local economy by creating long-term employment opportunities. It is also important to note that the benefits for those living along the GED Africa route include improved access to healthcare and education, as well as facilitation of local trade, the statement said.
