Before the match in the capital, Lukajic’s coach, Peter Szabo, who had a groin injury, was not available to him, and Schkos Horvath also seriously injured during the week: he broke his ankle.
Reserve Visprem started the match well, specifically he had a good time in the first quarter, the match was 16-16 in the sixth minute. Next, the home team shook (29-20), but Dancsecs and Glogovac carved out a disadvantage until the end of the quarter. The staff tied to 38-28 with accurate long throws, then the guests led 38-34 with superb threes from Glogovac and Sivert. It was not surprising that the Hungarians demanded the time, but the determined basketball players from Vesperm were not impressed at that time (42-40). At the same time, by the end of the match, the guests had run out of soufflés, with teams dropping 60-52.
Unfortunately, the third stage clearly brought out the superiority of the workforce, the Hungarians easily played Bakoni’s refreshing defense, as a result of which they led first to 75-60 and then to 79-66. Although coach Lukajic asked for time, there were too many unimposed fouls on Veszprém’s part, the ball was sold, and the action hastily. The score was 91-69 at the end of the quarter.
The image of the game has not changed in the last chapter either, reserve Visprem tried, but it was not full of strength now. In the end, the scoreboard showed a big defeat: 115-85, so an eighth place win might be the realistic goal for Veszprém Basketball Club.
Zeljko Lukajic: – The team played its own game: ran and dash. We got tired of the second half, but our defense left something undesirable. We are preparing for the second game on Friday.
