Ray tracing, known in English as ray tracing, can give Nintendo 64 games a very powerful visual tuning.

A software developer, Dario, told Twitter that it is adapting the lighting system used in Super Mario 64’s computer ray tracing mode, the RT64, to use this visual tuning in other N64 games with an emulator plug-in. This will allow the open source plugin to be used to blur objects on the fly, support widescreen resolutions, machine learning upscaling (DLSS), and reach more than 60 frames per second in supported games by clicking on an open source plugin.

In the video below, you can see several games that use the plug-in in early development: The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, Paper Mario, Kirby 64, Snowboard Kids, Mystical Ninja Starring Goemon, and Rocket: Robot on Wheels also appear in Ho – she. It’s planned that we’ll need to manually add the plugin to some N64 ROM files, so this will be a non-automated system (and that might prevent Nintendo ur legal prince).

The developer started the project a month ago by optimizing the backend for Super Mario 64 PC, but quickly realized that he could develop into a generic simulation solution so that his work could be used in multiple games, which are still very primitive and take months to emerge, but the results are really exciting. He admits that everything will be impossible Nintendo 64Make the game work because lighting a particular game will always be a handy task. The side effect was that research into the Fulfillment of Display Commands sent from the Nintendo 64 game was done without the need to access the game. Many games without 60 FPS patches yet can run at this frame rate or even faster while keeping the original tempo internally.

The titles supported in the plugin will be in the form of a whitelist, but users can also try other games with a key. Darío plans to make the RT64 functional for both PC ports for fans of Mario 64 and The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time.
