The advent of the new interface also transforms webmail a bit, but more importantly it integrates it with three other related communication apps from Google, Meet, Chat and Spaces.
It is more customizable
At least if the user allows it – another important innovation of the switchable interface is that it has become more customizable. Thus, the user can choose which of the above-mentioned applications he wants to be included in the new Unified Interface, which is now built according to the principles of Google’s Material Design Language 3.

However, it will be possible to use the latter only until the end of the year – because then Google will force everyone to switch to the new Gmail.

Incidentally, Google says it will bring more new features to Gmail later this year. So, for example, the tablet version of Mail will be improved, get better emoji support, and get new accessibility features to make it easier for people with limited vision or mobility to use.
