Airbnb has begun testing its latest anti-party technology in the US and Canada, having previously banned house parties in rental apartments with the help of the platform, he writes: the edge.
Fortunately, the technology does not include cameras in the apartments, it will only filter out those bookings that are supposed to lead to parties. For this, the algorithm takes into account guest ratings, user account age, length of stay and whether the booking is for a weekday or weekend.

Similar software has been trialled in parts of Australia since October 2021 and has reduced the number of unlicensed parties by 35 percent.
And since July 2020, in the US, the app prohibits people under the age of 25 from renting large homes near their place of residence if they do not have many positive reviews. However, the current program does not focus solely on age and prohibits apartment rentals on a larger scale.
Airbnb has been trying to suppress partying for years, and in 2019 banned party rentals from the platform after five people were killed in a shooting at a Halloween party in California. In 2020, the coronavirus pandemic provided another excuse to ban the party. Despite canceling various social distancing rules in the meantime, the company saw the ban on parties as good for business, so it kept the relevant measure alive.
Those barred from booking can still rent a room rather than an entire apartment, even a hotel, through the platform. The apartment rental company also said earlier that the number of reports about parties fell by 44 percent year-on-year after the ban in August 2020, while the accounts of about 6,600 guests were suspended in 2021 for breaking the rules.
