There is a common belief that some people are more fortunate than others. If a person is richer, healthier, and more satisfied with his life, his environment and acquaintances tend to assume that he was lucky.
Two famous Americans, Benjamin Franklin and Thomas Jefferson, said that the secret of luck and success is diligence, that is, the harder a person works, the higher the chance of one day getting the big prize.

For example, if we want sunny weather for the next day because we are going on a trip, and this wish comes true, we consider ourselves lucky. Meanwhile, we don’t even realize the weather would have been good that day anyway, no matter what we wanted.

After all, there are two sides to everything: When a friend of ours recovers from the coronavirus, we (if we’re optimistic) consider him lucky. Not so unlucky that he fell ill – pessimists believe.
Thus, luck is mostly a matter of perspective and judgment, which is why it is always worth looking at the bright side of things. Einstein also said that “God is not a dice player,” meaning that chance (if you like: luck) does not play a role in the universe. Isn’t all this more reassuring?
