Prominent researchers around the world have warned of mass extinctions and the climate crisis. In their recent report, they noted that the world is unable to understand the extent of the threats posed by biodiversity loss and climate disruption.

The seventeen experts who conducted the study believe that the planet is in a much worse condition than others, including researchers, who believe in the online version of the British daily The Guardian.

The extent of the danger to the biosphere and all life, including humans, is actually so great that it is very difficult to understand, even for knowledgeable professionals. They write in their report in the scientific journal Frontiers in Conservation Science that examined more than 150 previous studies.

Scientists have argued, because of the time delay between the destruction of the natural world and the appearance of impacts, people are not aware of the scale of the problem. And they warned that mass migration linked to climate change, epidemics and conflicts over resources will become inevitable unless urgent action is taken.

Addressing this problem requires far-reaching changes in global capitalism, education, and gender equality.

The report comes months after the world failed to achieve any of the 2020 targets set in the strategic plan adopted by the Convention on Biological Diversity.

Based on the current situation, nearly a million species could become extinct in the world in the coming decades, according to a United Nations report.

The effects of a climate emergency are more pronounced than the loss of biodiversity, yet society is unable to curb emissions.

We think that when people understand the scale and proximity of the problem, it becomes apparent that we need to do more than individual actions such as reducing plastic use, reducing meat consumption, or reducing flying. Major and systemic changes are needed quicklyUniversity of California Los Angeles scientist Daniel Blomstein said.
