Soila Braverman, who served as Boris Johnson’s chief legal adviser, will take over the Home Office from Tuesday, replacing one of Johnson’s backers, Priti Patel.
Kwasi Quarting, who headed Johnson’s government’s business affairs department, was appointed finance minister. Rishi Sunak, who was Truss’ opponent in the last round of elections, was in charge of the finance portfolio in front of him. It has not yet been set.
Former Work and Pensions Secretary Therese Coffey will take over as health minister and deputy prime minister from Tuesday.
Of the portfolio chiefs, only Defense Secretary Ben Wallace remained in office.
Boris Johnson’s former deputy prime minister, Dominic Raab – who was also the justice minister – announced on Tuesday night that he would no longer take up a government position and would return to the backbenches in the House of Commons in London.
So did former Transportation Secretary Grant Shapps and former Johnson Health Secretary Steve Barclay. (via MTI)
