Eric Adams’ office also indicated the salary range in the ad: The person who wins the position can expect to be paid between $120,000 and $170,000, which is between 46 and 66 million forints per year.

“The ideal candidate is highly motivated, somewhat bloodthirsty, and determined to explore all options” to control the rat population, the ad reads. The future manager will also have to implement data collection, technological innovation, waste management and rat extermination on a large scale.

New York City leaders have been trying to rein in the city’s growing rat population for decades, with mixed results so far.

After the coronavirus epidemic, rats especially appeared in the streets, parks, and in the most unexpected places in New York, and they also escaped the multimillion-dollar rat extermination program launched by former mayor Bill de Blasio, which was aimed at increasing garbage collection operations, with an emphasis on apartment inspections. Mice were suffocated in their lairs with dry ice.
