Electreon will test wireless charging technology live for the first time using an electric bus to a German city. Later, the company will use this method to charge residential, commercial, and self-driving fleets as well.

The first wireless charging road in Germany is already being built in Ballingen, which, according to plans, will be used by both private and commercial electric vehicles. The chosen supplier was a company called Electreon, which deals with wireless charging solutions for electric vehicles, it reported Business Wire.

The company’s award-winning technology can charge electric vehicles both dynamically (while in motion) and statically (while stationary). He added that the company’s Cargo Service (CaaS) platform is working with cities and fleet operators to enable the conversion of residential, commercial and autonomous fleets into low-cost electric vehicles. Interesting geometry.

Electreon is working on the project with German company EnBW – the latter also deals with electric vehicle charging solutions. Electreon will build a one kilometer electric road section (ERS) and install two stationary charging stations based on the bus stops.

The construction will consist of two phases in Balingen: in the first phase, two 400-meter-long fixed freight stations will be built, while in the second, the road will be extended by another 600 metres. The project will ship a bus to the city.

The German project is being implemented after Electreon technology passed a successful test in Karlsruhe, which was also carried out with EnBW. In the process, an electric road was built at one of EnBW’s training centers, where a local bus running at peak times was provided.

As part of the agreement related to the Balingen project, Electreon may receive up to 3.2 million euros (about HUF 1 billion HUF 266 million) to build a dynamic and static wireless charging infrastructure.

The company also posted a short video of how the Electreon solution works:
