Netflix has announced details of how it will crack down on unauthorized use of passwords, making it impossible to use a single account on more than one site. The streaming giant warned last year of an upcoming update that would prevent users from sharing passwords across multiple devices, and has now posted the mechanics of the new system on its website, according to The Guardian. Under the new rules, the home device must log into the main account monthly (every 31 days) or users will be banned from that device.
Netflix has confirmed that an account can be shared between users, but now only between people who live in the same household, i.e. in a specific location. In the information letter they sent to Hungary, they reported that up to four devices could be connected in one home at the same time.

Users who log in from somewhere else must register their own account. However, Netflix also allowed users in another location to use the same account by entering a verification code sent to the email address associated with the primary account holder within 15 minutes.
“If a device outside your household is signed into an account or is in continued use, we may ask you to verify the device before using Netflix. This confirms that the device using the account is indeed authorized to do so.”
The company also reported another innovation, with the help of which the subscriber can take his profile with him if he needs it.
