The next generation of the Mini Countryman has many firsts. It will be the first Mini to be produced 100% in Germany and the first to be produced with a 100% electric powertrain.
Apart from these two important items, neither the technical parameters nor the fancy graphics are available for the new product that will debut this year. For now, it’s only technically likely to be closely related to the BMW iX1 electric recreational vehicle. It promises a battery with a total capacity of 68 kWh and a range of more than 400 km.
At the same time, the new Mini Countryman will not be produced on the iX1 production line in Regensburg, but in Leipzig, at the company’s factory that specializes in hydrogen fuel cells and purely electric vehicles. Here, the first electric Mini will collaborate with model families such as the BMW 1 Series, 2 Series Gran Coupé and 2 Series Active Tourer.
