Austria makes virus testing mandatory for passengers

Other people entering Austria must show a negative test result of no more than three days, or it can be exchanged within 24 hours of arrival in the country. It is important that only the tests performed by qualified personnel are recognized.

Passengers, like other arrivals, must register once a week to be able to show a so-called PCR test result based on antibody screening for no more than a week.

Travelers visiting Austria less than once a week must register before entering. Although the option to register will be available from February 7, registration will only be compulsory as of February 10.

British citizens may only enter Austria in exceptional cases, such as business trips, as long as the UK is included in the list of countries at risk from an epidemiological point of view.

Of the European Union member states, only Greece and Finland can currently enter Austria without complying with quarantine regulations. Other safe countries include Norway, Iceland, the Vatican, Australia, New Zealand, South Korea and Singapore. Japan has been removed from the registry of countries deemed epidemiologically safe due to the large increase in the number of infected people.

In Austria, 418,283 cases of coronavirus have been identified since the outbreak, of which 7,902 have died from the disease.
