The Spanish Grand Prix is a red letter in Ferrari fans’ calendar as the team outlined its first major development package of the year for the seventh round of the season. Corriere dello Sport reports that the SF-23 will be reintroduced in three zones at the site in Barcelona, which have changed in design and now do not contain chicanes.
The rear suspension, side box and floor area have all been changed, the Italian magazine reports. With the side lockers, Ferrari will copy the Red Bull design – for example, just as with the Mercedes package in Monaco, they will abandon their own concept and follow the competitor’s proven solution.
The new rear suspension is already complete: this is the element Ferrari originally wanted for the weekend at Imola, and after the cancellation they decided not to risk breaking damage in Monaco, but to install it only in Spain, along with other innovations.
There will be no new front suspension
According to previous reports, the new front suspension, along with the rear, was part of the Barcelona package—Ferrari engineers have called the front suspension the SF-23’s major shift compared to the 2022 model in winter. “We’ll see what happens later, but we won’t bring any improvements to Barcelona’s front suspension,” team principal Frederic Vasseur stated, according to SoyMotor.
The focus is on racing speed
