The first temperature alert of the year has been issued for the weekend in England when temperatures could reach 30C – He wrote the electronic version of the British Guardian newspaper on Wednesday.
The alert, issued by the UK Health Safety Authority (UKHSA) and the Met Office, will be in place from 9am on Friday until Monday morning and cover six regions: London, East Midlands, West Midlands, East, South East and South West. England.
An expert from the Health Safety Bureau said: The first consistently warm period of the year may arrive in the next few days, so it is important for everyone to take care of rehydration and cooling. He added that a high temperature could cause problems, especially for the elderly and those suffering from respiratory or cardiovascular diseases.
The UKHSA urged residents to stay out of the sun between 11am and 3pm and to engage in physical activity – such as working out or walking the dog – at cooler times of the day, in the morning or evening.
The agency advised people to pay close attention to family members, friends and neighbors who may be at higher risk of contracting the disease, and to know the symptoms and treatment of heatstroke.
Dan Harris of the Meteorological Service warned that the warm weather could be accompanied by heavy showers and thunderstorms, which could cause traffic disruptions.
