Franco Morbidelli has stated that he is not currently interested in staying with Yamaha next year, adding that he is not sure if he wants to. According to the Italian driver, they are doing a good job, but he knows more is needed.
Franco Morbidelli is one of the riders on the MotoGP field whose place is in jeopardy, already with regard to the next season. The 28-year-old rider performed particularly badly last year, scoring barely 17 percent of the points earned by his teammate Fabio Quartararo at the end of the season, with which he fought for the world title until the last race.
Despite this, he was given another chance, but the public picture did not improve. Morbidelli was only able to perform admirably for one weekend each, and that year was the Argentine Grand Prix. True, he managed to overtake the French driver at Mugello and finished the race in tenth place. However, when asked if this could help him extend his contract, he gave a surprising answer.

For the same weekend, Morbidelli finished 14th in qualifying and then dropped two places in the sprint. However, on Sunday he really managed to get ahead, although three out of the four places were due to the fact that Alex Raines could not start, and Marquez failed the race, but the fact is that he beat Quartararo.
“It was a passable weekend,” said the three-time MotoGP winner. – We’ve worked to the limit. We made a good decision, and made the appropriate modifications to the engine. The team worked hard to make the most of what we had and in the end we finished in the top 10. We’re not where we want to be, that’s for sure.”
Yamaha no longer knew what to do, another dead end for the manufacturer
