Level 42 on August 5 at the Paloznak Jazz Picnic
This summer, iconic 80s jazz-funk band Level 42 will make the Paloznak Jazz Picnic crowd dance with a much-anticipated concert.
The Level 42 formation will be introduced at the festival on August 5, where it will make up for the concert it has already missed twice since 2020.
Three days of jazz, funk, pop and soul, an outing experience like no other at Jazzpiknik. With the Passage, you feel alive all three days from opening the door until dawn. On four stages, with over forty concerts in the picturesque village of Balaton, everything from a picnic on the lawn to a club atmosphere to a big concert, from good wine to great music will all be together at the 11th Paloznak Jazz Picnic.

The 2023 Jazz Picnic will be opened by Nick West, a singer and vocalist who is among the best. On opening night, Rick Astley will also take to the stage, who will return to the hillside on August 3 to enchant the crowd with the uplifting soul sound of his music as well as his greatest hits. Friday evening kicks off with Dirty Loops, a Swedish trio playing pop-funk-jazz, followed by Thievery Corporation, pioneers in electronic music.
On August 5th, Saturday, the most important jazz band, Incognito, will give a concert at Jazz Picnic.
Incognito began as a studio project for two stellar musicians, Paul “Tubbs” Williams and Jean-Paul “Bluey” Maunick, and then became the hottest dance-funk-jazz band of the 1990s. Club hits poured in, all of Europe danced to Incognito. Since its existence, almost one hundred and fifty musicians have taken part in the ensemble, but the main character is still Bluey, thanks to whom the ensemble has not lost its old luster.

Level 42 has been voted the best British band for years. The band was formed in 1979, true to the original lineup, Mark King (bass, vocals), Phil Gold (drums), Bon Gold (guitar), and Mike Lindup (keyboards) played together. In the first five years of their existence, they became known for a number of minor hits, but it was News of the World that was released by World Machine released at the end of 1985, which became a double platinum record. This was followed by Running in the Family (1987) and Staring at the Sun (1988), which were also major hits. The pinnacle of their career was their world tour in ’87, after which the Gould brothers left the group and continued as session musicians. Mark King also appeared more and more as a guest on the records of several artists, so he took a break from his band from 1993 to 2006. Level 42 reunited in 2006, when they released their studio album Retroglide. Four years later, the band celebrated its 30th anniversary with a special tour called Living It Up. In 2013, they released their Electronic Whistles EP. In 2018, they capped off the band’s 40th anniversary with their Forever Tour. The ninth Paloznak Jazz Picnic was one of the stops on the European tour announced for 2020, but the concert—as well as most of the planned stops on the tour—were canceled due to uncertainty caused by the pandemic and strict restrictions.
