Toprak Razgatlıoğlu’s contract with BMW caused an extraordinary surprise in the Superbike circuit. Al Turki also revealed why he chose this manufacturer and not Ducati.
Toprak Razgatlıoğlu first made the move to MotoGP for 2024, but after a couple of tests with his Yamaha M1, the 26-year-old decided to stay in the Superbike World Championship. However, as he was looking for a new challenge, the 2021 World Champion turned down Yamaha’s offer and settled with BMW instead.
In four years, BMW has achieved one victory (Michael van der Mark, Portimão Race 2 in 2021) and twelve podiums. Sixth place (van der Mark in Indonesia) in the 2023 Superbike season is the manufacturer’s best result to date.
There is already a candidate to replace Toprak Razgatlıoğlu
Turkish competitor He wants to prove itHe can lead any group to victory, as he did with Yamaha before.
“Everyone thinks this bike can’t win. I just want to show everyone that BMW is a winning bike. Ducati is the best on the track, that’s a fact. If you ride there and win the championship, it won’t mean anything special to me. Yamaha hasn’t been world champions for a while.” Twelve years, and he still manages to do it. I’m going with BMW because this team has never been world champions. I want to prove that it’s possible with me.”
