Final Fantasy XVI only managed to sell more than 3 million copies for sale, but it also broke the record for the best retail PS5 game release in Japan. According to figures compiled by Japan’s Famitsu, 336,000 physical copies have been sold since its release, completely defeating the previous record holder, Elden Ring being forced into second place with 90,000 sales.
In third place was Resident Evil 4 Remake, with just under 89,000 copies, which means that the new Final Fantasy has sold nearly four times as many physical copies as second place. Plus, these don’t include digital sales, so maybe Final Fantasy XVI The best selling PS5 game of all time in Japan.
