Despite Saturday’s victory in Austria, Peter Nagy Jr., captain of the Hungarian men’s volleyball team in the silver section of the European League, thinks not of group leader, but of continuous progress.
The specialist gave an interview to MTI after the meeting. As expected, it began, the Austrians played a completely different match at home than the one they played against the Georgians a week earlier, winning 3-2.
The men’s volleyball team won a close game in Austria
Peter Nagy’s side have taken a big step towards the top of the group in the silver section of the Europa League.
“We didn’t start the first set with the right aggressiveness, especially in defence, and made a lot of mistakes from accepting easy openings. From the second game onwards our game came together and even though we still made a lot of mistakes we served more aggressively and attacked more effectively.” – The coach analyzed the match.
According to Nagy, if they hadn’t started game four consistently, they could have finished the game after that, but he is still happy with the final result, because they managed to win game five in a thrilling final match.
“Compared to last week’s match, we were partially able to advance, my biggest problem this time was the mistakes from the easy slots. If we take more risks with the servers, there is a higher percentage of the possibility of them being spoiled, but that wasn’t the case now.” said the captain of the national team.
Nagy, who is set in December, noted that the quartet’s performance was a bit weaker this time around, however “The fate of the national team was not decided in one match.”So I think it’s appropriate.
The coach emphasized that although they came close to top of the group with victory, he still did not want his players to think so, but rather trusted that the elements of the game that were not working well would improve. And they will go more week after week.
“If we continue like this, I think we will also win next Saturday against the Austrians, who are young, dynamic and energetic like us, but that is also why they make more mistakes.” Nagy referred to next Saturday’s game in Erd.
The Hungarian national team leads Group B with two victories in two matches and five points. The top three players advance to the semi-finals.
