Elon Musk is also joining the AI party, launching his own AI company

Elon Musk launched artificial intelligence startup xAI on Wednesday, Reuters reports. He will lead the team himself, despite the fact that he has repeatedly stated that, in his opinion, the development of artificial intelligence should be paused, and the sector needs to be regulated. According to Musk, artificial intelligence can destroy civilization.

On Wednesday, Musk outlined his plan to create safer AI. Instead of trying to program ethics into AI, Musk said, xAI will aim to create AI that is “curious about everything.”

According to Musk’s predictions, superintelligence, that is, artificial intelligence more intelligent than humans, will arrive in five to six years. Musk co-founded OpenAI, the company behind ChatGPT, in 2015, but stepped down from the company’s board of directors in 2018.

xAI announced that it will hold a Twitter Spaces event on July 14, and the company will be staffed by former Google and Microsoft employees.
