For the first time in his career, Lando Norris achieved two podium finishes in a row. According to him, McLaren, which has improved a lot, has now shown its critics at the start of the year.
Second place at Silverstone, which is preferred by McLaren, second place at Hungaroring, which is less favorable for McLaren – that’s what they call a real improvement! At the start of the season, the Papaya team, which often competes only in the last third of the field, has proven that on a track so different from the previous two, that its improvement is not track dependent, this B car works!
Lando Norris took two second places in two weeks – the first double of his career. After his poor start at the Hungarian Grand Prix, he was back in front of his team-mate, Oscar Biastri, and although he had no chance against Max Verstappen, he didn’t let Sergio Perez get close to him.
“It was a tough race, and the finish wasn’t easy because Chico was closing in. I’m glad he wasn’t fast enough to catch up with me. I was fighting a bit at the start, but I got stuck in every corner. Now it’s another podium for McLaren and it’s amazing.” said the British public’s favourite.

“But we are very happy with our progress when I look at where we were four or five races ago. Sometimes we fought against elimination in the first quarter, now on podium and pole. I accept that, and our time will come later.”
Opponents are also amazed at McLaren’s improvement. Norris is happy that they can prove what they really can do. “Very hard work, great factory team. We knew at the beginning of the year we were going to suffer, we were very vulnerable and a lot of people are hurting McLaren for not doing a good enough job, but I’m glad we finally showed people they were wrong!”
